445th Airlift Wing AFRes Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio C-141B 89th/356th Airlift Squadrons

The unit was formed as the 445th Fighter-Bomber Wing at Buffalo, NY in July 1952 with the F-51 and T-6. The 445th converted to the F-80 and F-84, and moved to Niagara Falls MAP, NY in June 1955 before being redesignated the 445th TCW in September 1957. The wing moved to Dobbins AFB, GA in November 1957 with C-45s and TC-47s. The 445th operated a variety of types including the C-47, C-117, VC-117 and U-3. The unit was redesignated the 445th Air Transport Wing in December 1965 before changing to 445th MAW one month later. The wing flew the VC-47, VT-29 and HU-16 before inactivated in June 1971. The unit was redesignated 445th MAW (Associate) at Norton AFB in July 1973 with three Associate squadrons operating front-line C-141Bs of the 63rd MAW/63rd AW in place of front-line crews. Following the inactivation of the 63rd AW, the 445th moved to Wright-Patterson AFB on 1 October 1994 with two squadrons of C-141Bs.
